I’m Emily “Majikarpette” Matusz, a Michigan-born, Ohio-raised concept artist and illustrator. I started my artistic endeavors by scribbling characters from my favorite games in my class notebooks. With the help of friends and family, this hobby of mine eventually led me to graduate from The University of Akron with a BA in studio art with a minor in sculpture. A couple years later, I participated in a SmArt School course with Scott Fischer, where I learned to create enticing fantasy work from concept to cover. My portfolio expresses extensive research followed by meaningful execution. I enjoy layering multiple references, wrapping it together in a concept that has an easy read with deeper meanings tucked inside. I aim to create works that have a great second look, but also reveal themselves over time, sometimes hiding these deeper meanings in plain sight. I currently reside in Pennsylvania, accompanied by the rolling hills and winding trails of the Appalachia with my loving fiancé and two cats. Special thanks to my fiancé, Manny Garcia, for helping me out with this site!
